Celebrating excellence, innovation and impact
This year has been nothing short of groundbreaking for ESPN. In August, we embarked on the most profound business transformation in our 46-year history, as we successfully launched ESPN's direct-to-consumer service and the enhanced App, and continued our evolution as the preeminent digital sports platform.
The year also saw ESPN execute multiple deals that reshaped our industry — including the announcement of our pivotal NFL agreement, which, when it closes, will see us acquire certain NFL Media assets and added game inventory, as well as additional NFL content. We executed innovative new rights agreements with WWE, MLB, DraftKings and more. We also launched smart, creative deals bundling ESPN DTC with Disney+ and Hulu, with NFL+ Premium, and with FOX One, offering fans unmatched value.
We enjoyed record success across linear, digital and social platforms and consistently delivered high-quality live events, studio content, journalism, storytelling and original programming. We debuted Inside the NBA on ESPN, bringing fans its unmistakable signature style and unfiltered commentary at marquee NBA events.
2025 was a year that further positioned ESPN to best fulfill our mission — to serve sports fans anytime, anywhere. We take that responsibility seriously and research consistently shows the vital, trusted role we play in sports fans' lives every day. That connection was on full display over the summer for SportsCenter's ambitious, resonant "50 States in 50 Days" journey that served as a daily touchpoint for fans across America.
None of this would be possible without the teams here at ESPN, and the support we get from The Walt Disney Company. Fans can expect continued innovation over the next year, including our plans for Super Bowl LXI in February of 2027.
As we look back, we invite you to spend time with our "25 Milestones of ESPN's 2025," a comprehensive — but by no means complete — assortment of memorable accomplishments from this past year.
Happy Holidays and best wishes for 2026.
We sincerely appreciate your continued interest in ESPN.
